Welcome to Seifert Labradors!
We are English style Chocolate, Yellow, and Black Labrador breeders located on the California Central Coast, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco in beautiful Santa Margarita.
"A little about our History"
As a little girl I fell in love with the Labrador breed. Every day on my way to school, I walked past a yellow lab. He was always so friendly that I remember thinking. "Someday, I will own a lab just like him".
Kevin's family came to the Central Coast and settled here when he was a little boy. A yellow lab mix adopted his family and Kevin was hooked. That wonderful dog lived a long happy life, giving Kevin's family love, companionship and true devotion.
"Our Kennel's Beginning"
Kevin and I met in 1997 and the two of us knew that we wanted a
Labrador retriever to become part of our family. We found our first Yellow Lab, Hank, 13 1/2 years ago. He quickly became Kevin's work partner and best friend.
Hank passed in 2010. Gone but not forgotten, we miss you buddy!
Having a deep love for the Chocolate lab, we found Kenya Labradors and purchased Annie in 2000. Annie's sweet temperament left us wanting a puppy from her and Kenya's Wizard proved to be the perfect match. Our first litter of Chocolate Lab puppies was born in 2002.
Belquest Riverchase Wizard (Wizard) joined our family in 2006. His warm personality and calm temperament is a wonderful quality which he passed on to his puppies. Wiz has since retired from our breeding program.
In the summer of 2007, we purchased Rainy from Jennifer of Blu Top Farms in Washington. Rainy is the foundation for our Yellow Lab puppies. You'll see them through out our website. They are eager to please, easy to train, and have more then enough love to go around!
In mid 2010 we purchased our first Black Lab from Lisa at Dalwater Labradors in Ca. Star is a shining example of the Lab breed, and will be our foundation for our Black Lab puppies in 2012.
We purchased Chablais Stormy Aftermath (Splash) from Doreen at Copperquest Labradors, in Ca. Splash joined us with limited showing. After Splash joined us, we hit the show circut! His first show was a Lab Specilaity in Northern Ca, Splash won earning him his first Major! Splash's pups are loveable, trainable, and have the wonderful temperament that the Lab is well know for.
At 5 years old Mallori expressed an interest in showing after attending dog shows with us. She was given the opportunity to handle Dalwater Dream Weaver "Dutch" (of Dalwater Labradors) in the winners class and won! This was Dutch's first point towards his Ch title.
Since then Mallori has shown many of our dogs. She is now a Junior Handler and shows our Labs in Junior Handler events.
Mallori is an important part of our kennel. She exercises the puppies daily and plays with them in the puppy kennel, thus giving them one-on-one socialization skills.
"OUR MISSION"
Labs and their many wonderful qualities sold us on the Labrador breed. It was early introduction to breeding by breeders that brought us into existence. We wanted to share our love for the breed so we jumped in hook line and sinker! Working hard to educate ourselves about the breed, it's genetics, and the quality of puppies we knew we wanted breed. We then turned to our Veterinarian for advise on breeding, nutrition, health issues the breed is susceptible to, and preventative care.

When a dog is bred on preliminary clearances, it means that the dog is "currently" passing their exam. We have known dogs who passed their prelims, were bred, produced a litter of puppies - then failed their final exam and certifications at 2 years of age.
AKC recommends certification at 2 years of age.
Our reputation and health of our puppies is more important to us than having a litter of puppies.
As Lab breeders we hold ourselves to the higher standards of breeding - therefore, we do not breed on prelims.
Can dogs who are certified clear/normal of genetic health faults produce puppies with genetic faults? YES, but with testing, and only breeding certified clear/normal dogs to certified clear/normal dogs, we hope to see less and less of these genetic faults in generations to come.
Our Motto... "Breed responsibily to produce Top Quality Labs"
Our puppies are adopted on AKC Limited registrations.
Our job as a breeder is not done when our puppies leave us. We have formed many lasting friendships with families and breeders alike who have adopted puppies from us. We celebrate right along with you when your Lab reaches a milestone. Whether it be their Birthday, hunt or show titles, puppy/dog obedience graduations, or Therapy dog certifications; or the simpler things in life...catching a frisbee, learning to walk on a leash, etc.
We love to hear about the lives our dogs lead.
